Stochastic Modeling

Stochastic modeling plays an important role in the research activities of the Laboratory. New paradigms and Monte Carlo methods are being developed to study packing problems that has relevance to industrial processes. Mesoscopic models which arrive from coarse-graining of particle models are also being studied through the use of novel spectral numerical techniques for stochastic partial differential equations. Such models will be useful in the study of catalytic surface reactions and in protein labeling in bio-materials.
